Laser Vertex Hypsometer
Combining a laser, ultrasound, and tilt sensor, this precision
instrument provides accurate and reliable distance, height, and angle
measurements. Use the laser or ultrasound alone as a rangefinder or in
combination with the tilt sensor to measure heights and angles. To
achieve more accurate distance results at shorter distances, even
through thick vegetation, use the ultrasonic feature along with the
transponder. Ultrasonic measurement provides results in meters or feet
and allows measurements to be obtained even when a clear line of sight
to the target is not available. The Laser Vertex also includes a reverse
prism function which has built-in prism factors of 10, 20, and 40
(English) and .5, 1.0, and 2.0 (Metric). The laser function allows you
to work without a transponder and take measurements at longer distances
in meters or yards. The laser features 8x magnification for precise
aiming. When using the laser, the transponder can be used as a visible
reference point. Laser Vertex hypsometer unit and 60° transponder
included. Laser: Distance (non-reflective target), maximum 350m (400 yds.);
Distance (reflective target), 130m to 900m (150 yds. to 999 yds.);
Resolution, 0.5m <100m and 1m 100m (0.5 yds. <100 yds. and 1 yd. 100
yds.); Accuracy, ±0.25m <100m and ±1m 100m (±0.25 yds. <100 yds. and ±1
yd. 100 yds.). Ultrasound: Distance, 30m (100 ft.) or better;
Resolution, 0.01m (0.1 ft.); Accuracy, 1% or better when calibrated.
Height: Range, 0 to 999 m/ft.; Resolution, 0.1 m (0.1 ft.). Angle:
Range, -55° to 85°; Resolution, 0.1°; Accuracy, ±0.1°. Operating range:
5°F to 113°F (-15°C to 45°C). Power: Laser Vertex, 1 CR2 3V Lithium
(included); Transponder, 1 AA battery (included). Weight: Laser Vertex,
9 oz.; Transponder, 5 oz. Dimensions: Laser Vertex, 3.7" x 2.7" x 2.3";
Transponder, 2.8" dia.

Vertex Hypsometer 111
With
this instrument you can quickly and accurately measure tree height from
0 to 100m (0 to 300 ft.) and distances from 0 to 30m (0 to 100 ft.).
Readings can be made in metric or English. Convenient, pocket size unit
even works through very thick vegetation and brush. Unit automatically
displays distance, angle and horizontal distance to transponder or
target.
To use,
fasten the transponder at a pre-defined height on tree. When taking
measurements, you will need to be able to see the transponder and the
top of the tree. Look through the hypsometer and aim the red beam at the
transponder. Press the red button until the dot disap-pears. Read your
distance, angle and horizontal distance to the transponder. Next aim at
the tree top and press the
red button, this will instantly show tree height.
